The Jamie Hogan Story


Cameron Hogan, commonly known as Jamie as a young man originally studied joint technical qualifications in Surveying and Civil Engineering while working for the Victorian state government. He subsequently changed career paths to study Youth Work qualifying in 1985. He went on to study a number of related qualifications whilst working with young people and in 1989 was  elected as  local government Councilor. 


He holds qualifications in Contract Law, Criminal Justice, Management, Youth Work, Counselling, Quality Auditing. Training and Assessment and Alcohol and Other Drugs including a Doctorate in Philosophy, a Doctorate in Law and in 2025 completed training as a Certified Advocate. 


Jamie is a  member of the Governance Institute of Australia, Youth Workers Australia, the Australian and New Zealand Criminology Society, Australian New Zealand Academy of Management, Institute of Community Directors of Australia, Fellow of  the Advocacy Institute of Australia and the Derek Amos Institute for Public and Political Affairs  in addition to holding Fellowships of the  Institute of Management and Leadership and completing the the Victorian Community Leadership Fellowhaip in 2012


 In recent times, Jamie has focused on his work as a strategic planner, social planner, political activist and commentator and quality auditor.  He is recognized as an expert in policy and procedure and governance running several of his own academic consultancies and is a registered Lobbyist in the State of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia. 


He lectured in various Community Services courses specializing in Legal and Ethical Practice for many years before leaving the academic world in early 2021 to pursue his consulting career. 

 

These days Jamie who is semi retired specialises in political advice and political commentating after being active in the political world as a campaign manager, a political Chief of Staff and local party official. He volunteers his time as an advocate for  people with mental health issues and assists community groups with policy, moderation and governance.


in addition to serving on numerous regional, state and national boards including the Ministerial Central Gippsland Regional Youth Committee as Deputy Chair, the Ministerial Consumer Affairs Advisory Committee, the Victorian Association of Youth Clubs Board of Directors  and the boards of a number of corporate entities, he is currently a National Board Member and Treasurer of Youth Workers Australia [YWA], the peek professional body for Youth Workers around Australia, Secretary of the Derek Amos Institute and Chair of the Advocacy Institute.


He is Chair of the YWA course accreditation and undertakes assessments for degrees offered by Universities and Diplomas offered by Registered Training Organisations and TAFE's  around Australia that focus on working with young people. 


Jamie in his spare time loves his fishing since he was six years old and fishes in Bream Competitions. He is also an avid photographer a hobby he has had since 1995. He has had a number of exhibitions and produced several calendars.
